Micah 2

Woe to Oppressors

1Woe to those who ascheme iniquity,
Who work out evil on their beds!
Lit In the light of the morning
,
cWhen morning comes, they do it,
For it is in the dpower of their hands.
2They ecovet fields and then fseize them,
And houses, and take them away.
They
Lit oppress
,
hrob a man and his house,
A man and his inheritance.

3Therefore thus says the Lord, Behold, I am iplanning against this jfamily a calamity
From which you kcannot remove your necks;
And you will not walk lhaughtily,
For it will be an mevil time.
4On that day they will ntake up against you a
Or proverb
taunt
And
Lit lament
,
qutter a bitter lamentation and say,
We are completely rdestroyed!
He exchanges the portion of my people;
How He removes it from me!
To the apostate He sapportions our fields.’
5Therefore you will have no one
Lit casting
,
ustretching a measuring line
For you by lot in the assembly of the Lord.

6vDo not
Lit flow
speak out,’ so they
Lit flow
speak out.
But if
I.e. God’s prophets
they do znot
Lit flow
speak out concerning these things,
abReproaches will not be turned back.
7Is it being said, O house of Jacob:
Is the Spirit of the Lord acimpatient?
Are these His doings?’
Do not My words addo good
To the one aewalking uprightly?
8
Lit And yesterday
Recently My people have arisen as an agenemy
You ahstrip the
Or ornaments
robe off the garment
From ajunsuspecting passers-by,
From those returned from war.
9The women of My people you akevict,
Each one from her pleasant house.
From her children you take My alsplendor forever.
10Arise and go,
For this is no place amof rest
Because of the anuncleanness that brings on destruction,
A painful destruction.
11If a man walking after wind and aofalsehood
Had told lies and said,
‘I will
Lit flow
speak out to you concerning aqwine and liquor,’
He would be
Lit one who flows oracles
spokesman to asthis people.

12I will surely atassemble all of you, Jacob,
I will surely gather the auremnant of Israel.
I will put them together like sheep in the fold;
Like a flock in the midst of its pasture
They will be noisy with men.
13The breaker goes up before them;
They break out, pass through the gate and go out by it.
So their king goes on before them,
And the Lord at their head.”
